Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis
The majority of people with multiple sclerosis are diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. In this stage, the symptoms tend to occur in periods of relapses when worsening or new neurological signs appear accompanied by episodes of remission when symptoms disappear. A relapse is confirmed when one or more enhancing lesions show on the results of a spinal cord or brain MRI. A flare-up may last at least 1 day, typically for days, weeks, or even months. Similar to clinically isolated syndrome, the symptoms can vary, depending on the damaged nerves in the central nervous system. [4]
