Hand Exercises for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Relief

Fist Stretches

Making a fist can be hard in people with rheumatoid arthritis due to swollen and stiff joints. You can do fit stretches regularly to improve your grip strength. This exercise involves many tendons and muscles that are needed for gripping. You could do fish stretches easily anytime and anywhere the hand experiences stiffness. Start with holding the right hand out and keeping all fingers straight. Slowly bend the hand into a fist and place the thumb on the outside of the hand. Make sure to be gentle and do not squeeze the hand. Hold a few seconds before opening up the hand back until the fingers are straight. Do 10 times and repeat with the left hand. [3]
