Tourette’s Syndrome Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

6 Symptoms of Tourette’s Syndrome

Motor Tics

Tics are the main sign of Tourette’s syndrome. These are semi-voluntary or involuntary, brief, and sudden sounds or movements. In simple motor tics, the body might only involve a muscle group or a single muscle. They can be prolonged, such as mouth opening or shoulder turning, brief such as nose twitching or eye blinking, or last for an extended period of time such as flexing or extending the limb. In more complicated motor tics, the body will involve more muscle groups and resemble usual movements such as touching, throwing, hitting, or jumping. Nevertheless, those acts usually happen in inappropriate cases or include obscene gestures. [3]
