Tips for How to Get More REM Sleep

Have a Regular Sleep Schedule

It is a good idea to have a regular sleep schedule in which you go to sleep and get up at the same time each day. This may allow you to get more REM sleep by experiencing every stage of sleep a few times during the night. Total sleep time can vary from person to person, depending on gender, age, and physical conditions. But on average, aim for 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. This can also lead to more REM sleep and improve your sleep quality. Although your body can adjust to different sleep schedules, this process may take a few days or up to one week. That’s why those people who have to travel across different time zones tend to experience less REM sleep and have jet lag. [1]
