Stomach Cancer – Diagnosis & Treatment

Blood Tests

Another diagnostic test for stomach cancer is the blood test. There are many different types for various purposes. The most common option is the complete blood count or CBC. In this procedure, a blood sample is taken from your body to check for a few important things, including the number of platelets, white blood cells, and red blood cells; the ratio of red blood cells in the blood; and the amount of hemoglobin in your red blood cells. A blood chemistry study is also needed to examine the amount of several substances produced by tissues and organs in your body. An abnormally lower or higher than usual level would indicate the presence of the disease. [5]
