Calcinosis cutis is a medical condition characterized by the buildup of calcium salt crystals in the skin. In general, these calcium deposits can be hard spots that do not dissolve on their own. Depending on the causes, the size and shape of the lesions would vary. Calcinosis cutis is a rare disease that can be caused by many different reasons. These range from injury and injection to systemic conditions, such as kidney failure. In most cases, people with calcinosis cutis do not show any clear signs. But it would be very painful and uncomfortable in some cases. While treatment options like surgery are available, the calcium lesions might recur in the future. [1]
