In barium swallow, you will be asked to swallow a liquid that contains barium sulfate, a form of metallic barium. This substance would line the stomach and esophagus by coating and highlighting the inner walls, which helps find out any abnormal issues in these areas. After that, the radiologist will do X-rays of the stomach and esophagus. The resulted pictures can show any ulcers or growths in the digestive tract that would be caused by stomach cancer. [4]
