Symptoms and Causes of Clostridium Difficile (C. Difficile) Infection

Overview

C. Difficile (Clostridium Difficile or Clostridioides Difficile) infection is a bacterial infection that often manifests in the form of diarrhea or life-threatening colitis (inflammation of the colon). It is a condition prevalent in adults who have been subjected to hospital treatment for a long time (or perhaps under long-term care services). C. Difficile has been attributed to antibiotic medications. The infection has also been diagnosed in younger individuals, people outside of long-term care, and those who don’t have an antibiotic medication. C. Difficile cases have been on the rise over the years, and its treatment seems difficult at this time.
