Osteoporosis is a disease of the bone tissue that causes low bone mass and bone deterioration. Osteoporosis is very hard to notice and sometimes it is only discovered when you have a fracture. It mostly occurs in the wrist, shoulder, hip, and spine. What really happens with osteoporosis is that the bone tissue that is usually broken down and replaced isn’t being replaced as well as it should be, and so the bone becomes brittle and weak. The cause of this bone disease is not known and it affects people of all ages, although it has been discovered that women who have passed the age of menopause are more liable and even though there are no symptoms in the early stages of the disease, there are symptoms that will be noticed once it has affected the bone.
Height Loss
It sounds weird that it is possible to lose height, but this is one of the things that osteoporosis can cause. Loss of height is caused by the compaction of bones, which occurs as a result of a lack of bone density. This symptom in most cases cannot be reversed, but it can, however, be stopped. If you notice that you are losing height, it is not normal, and so you should see a doctor as soon as possible so that the cause can be discovered and treated. [1]
