Medicare Part C with a Disability
There are also specific rules for Medicare with a disability. In general, if you have received monthly benefits from Railroad Retirement Board or Social Security over the last 2 years, you qualify for Original Medicare. This is an important requirement to be eligible for Medicare Part C. In addition, if you are a local, state, or federal government employee with a disability who is not eligible for monthly benefits from Railroad Retirement Board or Social Security, you would be still entitled to disability benefits and eligible to Medicare Part A automatically after being diagnosed with a disable for 29 months.
