Overview of Medicare
Medicare is health insurance program funded by the federal government. It offers medical plans to cover expenses for people over 65 years old. You can be eligible for this program when you have:
– A disability and get benefits for social security disability for 2 years.
– A disability pension of the Railroad Retirement Board.
– End-stage renal disease or kidney failure and have a renal transplant or dialysis.
Medicare can be used as supplemental coverage or primary insurance. You can use it to pay the costs for long-term and medical care. However, keep in mind that the program does not cover all medical costs. [1]
