Arthritis – Foods Allowed & Avoid

Oily Fish

Oily fish, such as sardines, mackerel, or salmon, are rich in vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids. Those substances have been proved to providing powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Compared to lean meat or lean fish, oily or fatty fish can reduce the levels of some chemicals associated with inflammation. As a result, consuming these foods would help you prevent arthritis as well as alleviate some common symptoms caused by inflammatory activities. These effects are mostly reported in people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. It is recommended to consume at least 2 portions of oily fish on a weekly basis to make use of those anti-inflammatory effects. [2]
