Knee Bursitis – What You Need to Know

Risk Factors

There are a few risk factors for developing knee bursitis. Those people who often work on their knees in an extended period can be more likely to have this condition. These include gardeners, plumbers, or carpet layers. Athletes or participants in a few sports like volleyball, football, or wrestling can also be at a higher risk due to frequent falls or direct blows on their knee. The same holds true for runners because they would develop inflammation and pain around the pes anserine bursae, which are located on the inner part of the knee. Osteoarthritis and obesity can affect the inner part of the knee, thus increasing the risk of knee bursitis as well. [4]
