Hashimoto’s Disease
Hashimoto’s disease is another form of autoimmune disorder that would increase the risk of goiters. Unlike Graves’ disease, this condition causes the thyroid gland to produce fewer thyroid hormones than needed, also known as hypothyroidism. It occurs when the immune system of the body mistakenly attacks the organ. Swelling and inflammation might result in an enlarged thyroid gland. Some other possible symptoms include weight gain, joint pain, depression, constipation, and fatigue. Hashimoto’s disease tends to progress gradually over time. Many treatment options are available to help you recover effectively. [10]
