What Causes Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder that causes movement issues. This progressive and chronic condition involves a dark-tinged and small brain area called the substantia nigra. Most of the dopamine is produced in this area and responsible for muscle movements, reward centers, and the brain’s pleasure. Read on this article to learn more about the common causes of Parkinson’s disease.

1Environment

Certain environmental factors play a part in the development of Parkinson’s disease. The risk is especially high in those who are directly exposed to chemicals, such as fungicides, herbicides, or insecticides. Agent Orange would also be linked to this condition. In developing countries, many people develop symptoms after many years of consuming manganese or well water. Keep in mind that not everyone exposed to those factors is at risk. Scientists assume that a combination of environmental and genetic factors can be a possible cause. [1]
