What Causes Parkinson’s Disease

Genetics

Many studies have shown a link between Parkinson’s disease and genetics. It is estimated that around 15 percent of the reported cases have a family history of this condition. This means if you have a close relative, such as a sibling or a parent, who has Parkinson’s, the risk can be high. How genetics cause the disorder is still unknown. A possible answer can be the mutation of genes, which are responsible for the production of dopamine and some proteins needed for brain function. [2]
