Possible Interactions

Vitamin A supplements may interact with some medications and drugs. These include:

– Retinoids: Taking those oral prescription medications with vitamin A at the same time would increase levels of vitamin A in the blood excessively

– Anticoagulants: Increased risk of bleeding

– Hepatotoxic medications: Higher risk of liver damage and liver disease

– Orlistat, such as Xenical or Alli: These weight-loss medications would affect how the body absorbs vitamin A

– Bexarotene: Applying this topical cancer medication and taking vitamin A supplements at the same time would increase the risk of side effects, especially dry and itchy skin [8]
