IBS – Foods to Eat and Foods to Avoid

Lean Meats

The main component in lean meats is protein, which can be digested easily. More importantly, protein is not fermented by bacteria in the gut, meaning that it will not cause gas. People with IBS may consume lean meats without worrying about any problems. Common options include lean cuts of beef, pork, turkey, and chicken. Avoid fatty cuts as they may contain toxins or fats that may lead to inflammation in the body. Also, avoid marbled cuts of beef and dark meat turkey or chicken if possible. An exception is free-range poultry, pasture-raised pork, or grass-fed beef, which were raised in healthy conditions. [8]
