How to Measure Your Pupillary Distance (PD)?

Near Versus Far Pupillary Distance

When it comes to measuring pupillary distance, there are several specifics. The gaze may naturally shift outward or inward, depending on whether people are looking far away or close up to stuff. Therefore, there are two types of pupillary distance for these two cases:

– Near pupillary distance: This number measures the pupillary distance when you are looking close up and the gaze shifts inward. It is primarily used for reading glasses and similar tasks. The measurement would change by a few mm compared to far pupillary distance.

– Far pupillary distance: This measurement is used for all kinds of glasses, except those for computer work or reading. [2]
