How to Measure Your Pupillary Distance (PD)?

Monocular Versus Binocular Pupillary Distance

Another way to classify the pupillary distance is the monocular and binocular:

– Monocular pupillary distance: This type measures the distance between the middle of the nose’s bridge and the center of the pupil. The measurement is mostly used for precise fitting of progressive lenses.

– Binocular pupillary distance: This type measures the distance between the center of the pupil between two eyes.

Because of facial asymmetry, monocular measurements are not always the same. However, the sum of the two monocular measurements should equal to the binocular measurement. [3]
