Cleaning Tips, & More on Sponge

Useful Tips for Microwaving Sponges

Before microwaving a sponge, make sure it can be used with this device. Never put metal sponges into microwaves. Metal can reflect heat waves and make them move around chaotically. This may lead to fire, sparking, and damage to the device. Another thing to keep in mind is to rinse the sponge thoroughly with dish soap before using. Make sure there is no dirt or food in it. Also, wring out the item to get rid of excess water. After the process of microwaving, a sponge can be very hot. Therefore, wait a few minutes for the item to cool off or use oven mitts or tongs to remove it. Ideally, you should sanitize sponges regularly to ensure the best hygiene. [4]
