Basic Types of Blood Test

Thyroid Panel

A thyroid panel checks the condition of the thyroid to see how it is reacting and producing some hormones. These include triiodothyronine or T3, regulating body temperature and heart rate; T3 resin uptake or T3RU, measuring how well thyroxin-biding globulin works; thyroxine or T4, regulating the metabolism and growth; thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH, regulating the production of hormones by the thyroid.

Here are the normal results:

– TSH: 0.4 to 4 mIU/L

– T4: 5 to 12 μg/dL

– T3: 100 to 200 ng/dL

– T3RU: high if the level of T3 is low, and vice versa

Abnormal results might suggest some health issues, such as thyroid growth disorder, low levels of protein, and abnormal levels of estrogen or testosterone. [3]
