Basic Types of Blood Test

Complete Blood Count

A typical complete blood count or CBC test will check for the levels of ten different properties in every significant cell in the blood, including platelets, red blood cells, and white blood cells. The normal ranges of some important factors are as following:

– Red blood cells: 4.32 to 5.72 million cells/mcL in men; 3.9 to 5.03 in women

Platelets: 3.5 to 10.5 thousand cells/mcL

White blood cells: 3.5 to 10.5 thousand cells/mcL

– Hematocrit: 38.8% to 50% in men; 34.9% to 44.5% in women

– Hemoglobin: 13.5 to 17.5 g/dL in men; 12 to 15.5 g/dL in women

Abnormal levels might indicate some health issues such as cancer, heart conditions, infection, tissue inflammation, iron deficiency, or vitamin deficiencies. [2]
