Prevent Cancer
Spinach contains several important anti-cancer components, including SQDG and MGDG. They are effective in slowing down the growth of cancerous cells in the body. In addition, chlorophyll in this type of vegetable would block several carcinogenic effects of a few substances called heterocyclic amines. They are produced when foods are grilled or cooked at high temperatures. By limiting these effects, spinach would help the body fight against cancer. Some studies suggest that those compounds would help slow the growth and reduce the size of the tumor in people with cancer. [3]
