10 Osteoporosis Treatments You Should Know

Raloxifene

Raloxifene, popularly known by its brand names Evifyne, Evista, is classified under drugs called SERMs (Selective Oestrogen Receptor Modulators). This medicine is another alternative if you find taking denosumab and bisphosphonates challenging. Raloxifene tablets are to be taken once per day for women with osteoporosis and have been through menopause.

Studies have shown that raloxifene can help reduce bone loss and risk of backbone fractures after menopause. Also, some evidence supports the claim that this medicine can help mitigate the risk of breast cancer.

However, upon regular use, users may be at risk of leg cramps, worsen hot flushes, increased risk of fatal stroke and blood clots. [4]
