Medications
There are a few medications which can trigger the symptoms of gout, even when you just take a small amount. If you notice these signs, make sure to tell your doctors to change those options.
In most case, these are common pain medications. For example, acetylsalicylic acid and aspirin can increase the level of uric acid in the blood, even in lose doses. Keep in mind that these effects are often more common in women than men. Water pills or diuretics are often used to treat swelling or high blood pressure. However, they could also trigger gout by removing excess water and causing dehydration. Some diuretic drugs include spironolactone, indapamide, chlorthalidone, or hydrochlorothiazide. [5]
