Stages of RSD
In general, RSD can be broken down into three stages:
– Stage 1: Last between 1 and 3 months. It is characterized by quick hair growth, joint stiffness, muscle spasm, burning and severe pain, as well as temperature and skin color changes.
– Stage 2: Last between 3 and 6 months. Typical symptoms include weak muscle tone, stiff joints, softened bones, reduced hair growth, swelling, intense pain, and spotty, brittle, or cracked nails.
– Stage 3: This period would cause seriously limited mobility, muscle atrophy, continuous pain, irreversible bone and skin changes, as well as contractions of tendons and muscles. [5]
