About Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are a common condition that happens in both men and women. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, approximately half of people aged 50+ have hemorrhoids from time to time. Hemorrhoids could be either external or internal, depending on the locations of swollen veins. Internal hemorrhoids develop in your lower rectum where you cannot see. Thanks to a few nociceptors there, this type of hemorrhoids causes no pain. Yet, it is one of the leading causes of rectal bleeding. External hemorrhoids are bulges/ lumps under the skin around the anus. It is more noticeable than internal hemorrhoids because it causes pain and discomfort. [1]
