What is Pseudogout?

Risk Factors

Certain factors can increase the risk of developing pseudogout. Most cases happen in the elderly, especially those who are over 60 years old. Trauma to joints, such as a surgical procedure or a serious injury, would also increase the risk in the affected parts. In some cases, people with a family history of pseudogout can be at higher risk. These individuals often develop the condition at the early ages. Another possible risk factor is an imbalance of minerals, namely iron or calcium. Lastly, the condition is associated with some medical issues like an overactive parathyroid gland or an underactive thyroid gland. [3]
