15 Common Fibromyalgia Treatments

Fibromyalgia, FM, is a condition attributed with localized tenderness, extreme tiredness, and widespread pain. The cause of this condition remains unknown, but studies have shown that genetics may be one of the factors. Sometimes, this condition may develop shortly after a physical trauma, illness, injury, and psychological stress.

Other symptoms often associated with this condition include headaches, lack of focus, and depression.

Treating these symptoms including fatigue, and pain is very important. Fortunately, there is a wide range of options to help manage and alleviate the symptoms of fibromyalgia, and, as such, boost your overall quality of life.

Fibromyalgia symptoms mild or severe can be more than enough to interfere with achieving your day-to-day tasks. However, here’s a compile list of treatment options to help manage this condition.

1Pain Relievers

One of the most considered options for reducing fibromyalgia pain is medications. Doctors often recommended over-the-counter (OTC) painkillers like aspirin, naproxen sodium. These medications can help alleviate the pain attributed with fibromyalgia. That’s not all: they may help minimize inflammation, muscular aches, and improve sleep quality.

Sadly, these medications may not work for everyone, so ensure to read the instructions before administering any of drugs. If the over-the-counter painkillers fail to provide the desired results, make an appointment with your healthcare professional to prescribe stronger painkiller such as tramadol or codeine.

Further, these medications are very addictive, and their effect often weakens as time goes. Therefore, you may have to work your way up the dosage gradually. Note, you may experience some withdrawal symptoms whenever you stop using those medications. Other side effects often experienced may include fatigue (extreme tiredness) and diarrhea. [1]
