What Is Pleural Effusion?
Water on the lung, medically known as pleural effusion, is a medical condition that occurs when excess fluids accumulate in the area between the chest cavity and lungs. Pleura are thin membranes that cover these parts. There is usually a small amount of liquid in this lining to lubricate your lungs when they expand during breathing. A few medical conditions would lead to a pleural effusion. If left untreated, it might lead to many serious complications.[1]
