Hip (Trochanteric) Bursitis Exercises

Clamshell

The name clamshell comes from the way your hips and legs resemble a clamshell when doing the movement. It is a great exercise to tone the glutes, stabilize pelvic muscles, and strengthen the thighs and hips. You would do it almost anywhere without special equipment or too much space. Start with lying on the unaffected side. Bend your knees and hips, while keeping the feet together. Raise the top leg slowly to the ceiling. Make sure your heels touch each other. Keep this position for two seconds before lowering slowly. Do 15 reps in each set. [4]
