What Is Feng Shui?

Feng shui, which literally means wind-water in English, is a traditional practice in China that aims to optimize the energy flow. Especially, it focuses on Qi, a form of energy that is believed to play a key role in all living entities in Chinese culture. The main objective of feng shui is to build up the flow of energy around and in the living areas. It achieves this by combining the destructive and regenerative cycles of the 5 basic components: water, metal, earth, fire, and wood. The key is to keep a good balance between these elements.
