Hand Exercises for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Relief

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic condition that causes inflammation in many joints and organs in the body. It tends to affect joints in the wrists, thumbs, and fingers, making these areas become swollen and stiff. This makes daily tasks, such as brushing teeth or opening the door, become painful and harder. In this article, we will show you some hand exercises to help relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and improve your hand function.

Finger Bends

Start with holding the right hand up straight. Next, bend down the thumb to the palm. Try to hold this position for 5 seconds before straightening the thumb back up. After that, bend down the index finger to the palm. Hold it for a few seconds and straighten it. Repeat these steps with each finger on the right hand before moving to the left hand on the same sequence. [1]
