Folliculitis (Barber’s Itch) – Symptoms, Causes, Treatment & More

Causes of Folliculitis

Folliculitis typically occurs when you are infected with a form of fungi or staph bacteria, which can be found on the skin. Staph bacteria may be passed from person to person through bodily contact with infected individuals. They may also spread through contact with personal items, such as clothing, towels, or razors used by those who have bacterial folliculitis. On the other hand, fungal folliculitis does not spread through physical contact. Both fungi or bacteria that causes folliculitis may be found at spas or pools that are not sanitized well. [3]
