Why is My Skin So Dry Even When I Moisturize?

Overview of Dry Skin

Dry skin occurs when the skin doesn’t have enough moisture to stay supple and soft as usual. People with this common issue may experience rough skin patches, which appear scaly or flake off. The affected area can be itchy or not. In more severe cases, dry skin would bleed and crack. People of all ages may be affected by this condition, especially those who work outdoors a lot, live in dry climates, or wash their hands regularly. In some cases, dry skin may be a sign of an underlying problem, such as diabetes, hormonal issues, or allergies. The elderly tend to be more susceptible due to thinner skin, lower levels of sweat and natural oil, as well as reduced production of collage and fat. [1]
