What Is Parapsoriasis?
Parapsoriasis, also known as Brocq’s disease, is an umbrella term for several skin problems with similar signs to psoriasis. However, two conditions are different. It occurs as a result of inflammation on the skin, which leads to the accumulation of excess cells. Parapsoriasis is generally rare and primarily affects people in the middle ages. It typically shows up as scaly patches or plaques that are dark or pink in color with different sizes. Many treatment options are available, but the condition may resist and become chronic. [1]
Types of Parapsoriasis
Parapsoriasis can be divided into two main forms:
– Small-plaque parapsoriasis: This type is typically benign. As the name implies, it causes small plaques that are no more than 5 centimeters or 2 inches in diameter. These scaly patches mostly appear on the trunk, but they would affect any part of the body.
– Large-plaque parapsoriasis: This form is considered premalignant dermatosis, meaning that it would increase the risk of cancer. It causes large plaques on the skin, mostly the trunk or buttocks. [2]
