Foods to Eat & Avoid During a Shingles Outbreak

What Is Shingles?

Shingles is a viral infection that may lead to a painful rash on the skin. While it is not life-threatening, the condition would be very painful. The rash usually resembles a stripe of blisters covering the right or left area of the torso. Symptoms may appear on any area of the body. The main cause of shingles is the varicella-zoster virus, which also triggers chickenpox. This virus remains dormant in the body after you have had chickenpox and may reactivate after years as shingles. Getting vaccinated, therefore, would help reduce the risk of both conditions. [1]
