Flatfoot (Pes Planus) – Facts to Know

Symptoms

Most cases of pes planus only experience a few symptoms. Pain around the midfoot region is the most common sign. This sensation can increase with physical activity and might be followed by swelling along the arch and inner ankle. Due to the instability of your posture and gait on the joints, you can also have pain in other parts, such as the lower back, knee, and hip. Over time, standing and similar movements would become unbearable when arthritis restrict the motion range between your foot bones. This would subsequently affect how you run or walk, thus resulting in a distinctive flat-footed gait. [3]
