What is Bunion – 10 Facts to Know

What Is a Bunion?

A bunion is a bony growth that develops on the joint at the bottom of the big toe. In some cases, the little toe can also be affected. This condition is also known as small bunions or bunionettes. It happens when several bones in the front area of the foot move out of the normal place. As a result, the tip of the big toe can be pulled to the smaller ones, which causes big toe’s joints to stick out. The area over a bunion tends to be sore and red. Putting on unfitted footwear would cause or worsen the condition. [1]
