Lupus is a form of autoimmune disease that happens when the immune system attacks your own organs and tissues. Inflammation caused by this condition would affect many body systems, including lungs, heart, brains, kidneys, skin, and joints. Muscle twitches and spasms can be a symptom of lupus. More specifically, these problems indicate the presence of myositis, which is the inflammation of certain muscle groups. However, this condition is not common. [11]
