15 Foods that Cause Gout

Refined Carbohydrates

Refined carbohydrates are forms of sugar and starches that do not exist in nature. They do come from whole natural foods, but they have been altered in some ways by processing to refine them. Some of the refined carbohydrates are white bread, white rice, pasta sugar, cookies, cakes, muffins, pancakes, pastries, candy, etc. Refined carbohydrates are low in fiber and digested quickly. Eating refined carbohydrates can cause significant swings in blood sugar levels and also cause inflammation. Inflammation of the joints is what causes a gout attack.[9]
