Need persistent admiration and praise
Another distinctive symptom of narcissistic personality disorder is that they never feel enough for occasional compliments. Their sense of superiority is quite similar to a balloon which loses air gradually without a constant stream of recognition and applause to keep it always inflated. Narcissists always need persistent foods for their ego, which are admirations and praises. Thus, they often surround themselves with those friends and colleagues who are willing to do whatever they want to meet the need for affirmation. It’s easy to notice that these relationships can be typically one-sided and all about what an admirer would do for a narcissist. Whenever there is a diminishment or interruption, the narcissists will treat it as a betrayal act. [4]
