We all could be emotional at times, and it is part of a normal life. However, if you feel sad or anxious for over two weeks, then it could be a warning sign of depression. 17 million American adults are suffering from depression every year. Left untreated, the mental issue could heavily influence your day-to-day life and cause a ripple effect of additional symptoms.

Symptoms of depression vary from person to person. The common symptoms of depression include being overwhelmingly sad, being grieved, and feeling guilty. Some people described it as a feeling of emptiness or hopelessness, while others might find it difficult to express these feelings in words.

Crying frequently is one of the distinctive signs of depression, but it is not 100% for sure. Some people who are experiencing depression try to hide their emotional pain and it is known as smiling depression. Another sign of depression is fatigue.
