How Depression Affects Your Body

Depression and Central Nervous System

If you experience depression, it may come up with a lot of symptoms within the central nervous system. However, these signs could be easily dismissed or ignored. According to the American Psychological Association, there is a high chance for elder people to be unable to identify the difference between cognitive decline and depression since memory loss could be also a sign of being old.

There is a close relationship between depression and the central nervous system. On the one hand, depression could slow down brain activity and affect normal neurological functions. On the other hand, neurological diseases could also cause depression. For instance, some neurological diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis could also lead to depression.
