Live in the fantasy world
Because the reality can be harsh and does not support their grand views of themselves, most people with narcissistic personality disorder tend to live in a fantasy world which is propped up by magical thinking, self-deception, or even distortion. They always talk about self-glorifying stories of unlimited attractiveness, brilliance, power, success, and ideal love which make them in control and special. This imaginative world protects them from feeling shameful and empty by getting rid of any contradict opinions. Anything which can threaten to burst the magical bubble will be reacted with extreme defensiveness and rage. Thus, those people around narcissists should be careful when trying to bring them back the reality. [3]
