Common Symptoms of Nasal Polyps

Nasal polyps are noncancerous and soft growths developing on the lining of the sinuses or nasal passages. They are typically caused by chronic inflammation due to immune conditions, drug sensitivity, allergies, infections, or asthma. Small polyps would not trigger any symptoms, but larger ones may block the whole passages and cause some breathing issues. This health issue is more prevalent in adults, but people of all age groups can be affected. Below are some common symptoms of nasal polyps that you should know.

Runny Nose

A runny nose is one of the most common signs of nasal polyps. It occurs when these growths irritate and inflame the lining of the sinuses and nose. As a result, the nose begins producing a lot of mucus, which trap allergens, virus, or bacteria and then flush them out of the body. The mucus can be colored or clear, depending on your condition. If left untreated, this symptom would become chronic and make you feel as if a cold persists for a long time. [1]
