The 10 Most Common Food Intolerances

FODMAPs

FODMAPs stands for fermentable oligo-, di-, mono-saccharides and polyols. They refer to certain short-chain carbs naturally found in many foods, which would trigger digestive issues. FODMAPS are not absorbed properly in the small intestine. Instead, they go to the large intestine in which gut bacteria break them down for fuel. This process also causes discomfort, bloating, and gas. This type of food intolerance is more common in those with irritable bowel syndrome. To reduce the risk, you should avoid the following foods: soft cheeses, apples, milk, honey, bread, artichokes, lentils, beans, and beer.[5]
