The 10 Most Common Food Intolerances

Sulfites

Sulfites are substances that are mainly used as preservatives in beverages and foods. Also, they can be found naturally in aged cheeses and certain foods like grapes. Some individuals are sensitive to sulfites. This is especially true in those with asthma. Common symptoms include swelling, hives, stuffy nose, flushing, hypotension, diarrhea, coughing, and wheezing. In some cases, sulfites intolerance could result in airway constriction. If you have this problem, make sure to read the ingredient list and stay away from products with sulfites. Examples of drinks or foods with these elements include apple cider, wine, dried fruit, beer, potato chips, condiments, pickled foods, canned veggies, baked goods, or tea.[4]
