Pork VS Beef – Which One Do You Prefer?

Reasons People Prefer Beef to Pork

When you think of pork, what comes to mind? The meat of some dirty little animal dabbling into and out of dirty water? Or the meat of just another animal like the others you’re used to? Whatever the case, people have their own cogent reasons for not touching pork. The fact is, some of our opinions about pork come from unfounded myths and legends from culture, religion, or family. In some religions and cultures, eating pork is prohibited, but beef is given the thumbs-up. In some parts of the world, pork is seen as evil and dirty, and as such, must not be eaten to avoid contamination. However, a widely known deterrent for many people is the toxins, worms, and viruses contained in pork. But then, these substances are easily destroyed by heating to the standard temperature for cooking pork meat. According to the USDA, pork should be heated up to 145° F to eliminate all toxins and pathogens in it. Pork isn’t exactly as bad as it has been painted; in fact, it provides you with more beneficial nutrients than you can normally obtain from beef. Let’s take a critical look at their nutrition. [1]
